Infineon announced that this company, headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, has brought Infineon a rich portfolio of gallium nitride (GaN) power conversion solutions and leading application technologies. All necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained, and after the transaction is completed, GaN Systems has officially become a part of Infineon.
It is understood that Infineon is a global semiconductor leader in the fields of power systems and the Internet of Things. Infineon drives low-carbon and digital processes with its products and solutions. The company's revenue for the fiscal year 2022 (as of September 30) was approximately 14.2 billion euros.
Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon, said, "Gallium nitride technology has cleared the way for creating more low-carbon and energy-saving solutions, helping to drive the low-carbon process. The acquisition of GaN Systems will significantly advance the company's gallium nitride technology roadmap and allow us to have all major power semiconductor technologies, further enhancing Infineon's leadership position in the power systems field
At present, Infineon has a total of 450 gallium nitride technology experts and over 350 gallium nitride technology patent families, which further expands Infineon's leading advantage in the power semiconductor field and will significantly shorten the new product launch cycle. Infineon and GaN Systems complement each other in terms of intellectual property, deep understanding of applications, and mature customer project planning, creating extremely favorable conditions for Infineon to meet various rapidly growing application needs.
